You Choose I Wear

In this series (You Choose I Wear) , I ask others to choose articles of clothing from my closet, and assemble an outfit that they feel reflects their own style. For this long-awaited Part 2 (Part 1 having taken place years ago, with Gal choosing a wonderful and sophisticated outfit for me to wear), I’ve picked Tom, my boyfriend of over two years now. I first met Tom in 2018 and in 2019 he became my boyfriend and partner in crime, and I’ll let him fill you in on the rest.

How do we know each other?
I served at the same base as your sister, but that’s not how we met. One day, out of the blue, you messaged me on Facebook, and bit by bit the story got more complicated. We’ve been down a long and winding road since and I am madly, incredibly happy to know you, be part of your life, and have you in mine. I hope we keep at it for a long, long time. I am proud to be your friend and partner.

Tell me a little about yourself:
I’m Tom, I study acting at Impro (an acting studio in Ramat Gan), I spend some of my time with my lovely girlfriend Sapir Ashkenazi (do you know her?) in Tel Aviv and some of my time with my family in Mevasseret, I’ve lived abroad quite a bit in my life, and my hobbies include anything to do with coffee (excluding instant of course), reading, video games, movies and theater (you might consider this more of a professional interest than a hobby, but still).

How would you define your style?
Business casual? To be honest, I’m not sure at all. I don’t really define my style. It’s formal (by Israeli standards) but not too formal. I usually wear a shirt and jeans. Shoes may vary (usually between sneakers/running shoes and hiking boots) and my hair is rarely the same day by day, though that’s not by conscious design but rather by a lack of effort to keep it in a consistent shape. My socks are sometimes more colorful and fun and sometimes less. I was never one to utilize the entirety of the color wheel but thanks to Sapir I’ve learned to loosen up a bit and enjoy the variety.

Tell me a little about your inspirations, style wise:
I don’t think I have any. Well, it’s a little embarrassing, but in a way I may have taken some stylistic cues from Community’s Jeffrey Winger. Maybe.

What can always be found in your closet?
Shirts, a couple of jeans, sweaters, cool jackets/coats for winter, t-shirts I practically never wear. I don’t think the content of my closet changes much.

Why did you pick this outfit? Describe it:
I really like this purple dress, I thought it was great on you when you bought it. The print is cool (mostly the texture of the fabric I guess). I think it goes well with the sorta-snake-skin boots, the clashing of the prints is cool. The hair clip matches the bag cause I thought they were both cute. And that’s about it, I think…I just picked things that looked good together, intuitively. There’s no holistic concept or central idea, I just liked the combinations I got.

Who would you like to design the next outfit?
You, you talented designer!!

Now I’d like to hear from you, who do you want to pick a new outfit for me? If you’d like to see more of my own designs, check out the fashion section.
What did you think of Tom’s outfit? I really, really loved it (and I don’t think I’d have made the same choices in assembling an outfit myself).

I’d love to hear from you!
