Fall To Do List

Hello all and welcome back to the blog, I hope you’re doing well! I don’t know if you’ve noticed but even here, in Tel Aviv, we’re starting to feel the changing of the seasons. The air is getting dryer and you can catch whiffs of winter, a cool breeze caresses you as you walk down the street, it rains occasionally, we’ve moved the clock back, and everything starts to feel just a little more special and capital-C-Cozy. So I thought this would be the perfect time to make a to-do list for the fall that’s finally arrived. I made a wonderful little list which you too can print out, marking each activity you do/have done this year and maybe even find some inspiration for cute things to do with your time. Now I’ll tell you a little bit about each activity, why I chose it, and why I’m so excited for this time of year

☐   1- Go for a walk in the rain- one of my favourite childhood traditions, going for a walk with umbrellas in the rain is something my sister and I would do every year. As soon as it started to rain we’d get out of the house and walk, sing, chat, and enjoy the cool droplets and the greatest smell in the universe. It’s an important tradition during this time of year, and walks in the rain are a wonderful tradition of mine with other friends, too. I can hardly wait for this year’s rainy walks.
☑  2- Watch Over the Garden Wall- this is a 10-episode animated series, full of magic and fall atmosphere. Each episode is about 10 minutes long and the whole thing is about as long as a rather short movie. Gal introduced me to the show a few years ago and, ever since, it’s become an inseparable part of the season for me. I make sure to watch it every year and I’m never (ever!) disappointed.
☑  3- Have some homemade pumpkin pie- ever since Tom and I started dating, baking a pumpkin pie has become an annual tradition. He outdoes himself every year and he totally buys my love more and more each year with that pie.
☑  4- Bake something yummy- I love baking, especially this time of year. Baking buns or cookies and filling the house up with that amazing baking smell is a sure-fire way to cozy up your home.
☐  5- Sit and write at a cafe during a thunderstor- not something I can recall actually doing myself but I do love sitting at cafes and writing and I love the idea of sitting somewhere and writing because you can’t leave because of the rain.
☐  6-  Read under candlelight- I have some candles that really fit the autumn mood, and I’ve got dozens of books – classics, art books, plays, educational books – that I’m dying to read and have yet to find the time to do so. I’m hoping and planning to set aside some time to read under candlelight.
☐  7- Draw a hot bath- I used to take a hot bath at least once a week, but nowadays I never do it. Baths are very comforting, a sort of treat-yourself kind of thing for both your physical and mental state and I hope to make more use of them this coming season.
☑  8- Crafts; knitting, sewing, glasswork, etc- I don’t have much to add here, I’d just love to do some crafts on a wintery day, maybe with jazzy music in the background.
☑  9- Go to a Halloween costume party- this year I made my own costume and I have to admit I’m pretty psyched to wear it! I made my own version of Harry Styles’ outfit from his “As It Was” music video and you can follow its creation in a post I will write soon.
☑  10- Have some mulled wine- sweetened, hot red wine, with spices like cloves, cinnamon, anise, ginger, and orange slices.
☐  11- Watch the Harry Potter movies- one of the most comforting, nostalgic, and inspirational things I like to do is watch the Harry Potter films. The world they built is incredible, so British, so welcoming to the senses, it makes me want to create something myself. Which is a feeling I get this time of year anyway. movies.
☑  12- Cuddle with a pet- sadly, I do not have my own pet, so I will probably have to borrow Nano or Mitzi (pets belonging to friends and family who I sometimes watch) to cuddle with.
☑  13- Host a game night- this is somthing I’ve done several times with friends, I always really enjoyed it and feel like I should do it more often.
☐  14- Write and send old-timey letters – I have a wax seal, ink and a fountain pen just waiting for me to use them and I think this season is finally time to practise the lost art of letter-writing.

Now I’d like to hear from you, what are your fall traditions?
Do you like this time of year, too?
Have you tried following my list?
If so, are there any activities you feel are missing?
Let me know which of these things you’re doing and maybe, y’know, invite me to your game nights!
