Falling In Love Fashion

The fall season is here, leaves are falling, the wind is blowing, caressing our bodies and messing up our hair, the air is getting colder, and it gets dark earlier. It’s the perfect time to get out your sweaters and start layering. The romantic atmosphere and changing weather make me feel fantastic. It’s a great opportunity to get out of our ruts and throw some dark, grungy, wintery clothes into the mix – or get sporty with softer, more delicate, lacy, beady, patterned clothes.

Sporty Girl Chic

Shop the look:

The first outfit I picked is an excellent example of styling romantic clothes with sporty clothes. I chose to wear an older dress of mine (I’ve had it since I was a little girl!) with a letterman jacket. The dress is romantic and delicate with a lace collar and a vintage floral pattern. The letterman jacket is sporty college fashion, breaking the romantic look and giving the outfit a unique twist for the fall season. To this interesting set I added long, sporty socks, which I folded over, giving it all a lighter, more balanced feel. I also wore a comfy pair of brown, high laced heels to fill in that autumnal look.

Floral Dream

Shop the look:

This second outfit is a wonderful example of the way you can juxtapose romantic clothes and dark winter clothes. I went with a romantic see-through lace shirt and a white shirt underneath. Tucking in the undershirt creates a layered look with the vintage, floral-printed pants. The pattern is of the spring and summer, very romantic, and pairing it with dark, faded colours creates a special almost gothic look. To all this I added my glittery Oxford shoes for some shine and glamour, making the whole outfit more romantic and special.

Dark Academia

Shop the look:

My third outfit is a mix of various vintage clothes. I started out with a retro, flowery skirt which I sewed, made up mostly of beige and pastels, then added brown Oxford shoes to further the vintage look. I then threw in dark stockings for a mysterious, romantic vibe and gray socks for more texture and layers. I also wore a dark red sweater, complete with matching lipstick and nail polish. The dark red is a classic fall (and even winter) motif. Finally I juxtaposed this vintage look with a very modern v-necked navy coloured Starbucks t-shirt for some more character.

Now I’d like to hear from you, how do you dress for winter?
If you like to style your romantic and winter clothes differently I’d love for you to share some photos with me on Instagram, @Sapir254.
I’m always happy to hear from you about anything!
