This Is The Best Part 2022

I can’t believe 2022 is over! I’ve gotta admit, at times I felt like time was standing still and just wished the year would end already, but now I’m looking back over it with quite a bit of nostalgia. I want to share last year’s best moments with you, moments I’ll treasure forever and try to recreate next year, too! I hope you enjoy this short video and post, and I hope you have a magical year!

1 .No

The first amazing experience of the year was my trip with Tom to Manchester and London. Tom and I chose to go to Manchester in February and it started with us buying tickets to The Kooks’ show. I had already fallen in love with London but Manchester was love at first sight, part two. The trip was a week or so of shows, museums, bars and good food and I miss it all so much (one day I even hope to live in London or Manchester)!  So what’s my takeaway for this coming year? To travel more with Tom, here and abroad, and have loads more enriching experiences with the people who make me happy.

2 .No

Number two is the work I did last year. I may no longer work at the same place but it was a very meaningful and intense part of my year. I finally found a job that interested me and it taught me so much! A job that, while being very demanding, paid a decent wage and was fascinating. I’m happy for the time I had there and for the toolbox I gained from the experience.

Number three goes out to all the animals I spent time with this year. A few years ago I decided to take my daily struggles with OCD a step forward and start taking my friends dog out for walks regularly. To tell you the truth, I didn’t know how well I’d handle it. I dream to one day have a dog of my own and I thought taking Nano for walks would be a good way to handle the challenges of raising a pet, the lack of control, and the handling of gross things like…bodily functions…and dirt. I had no idea how deeply I’d fall for little Nano. In fact when I started working full-time my heart broke a little and I missed him terribly. I visited him frequently. I’d never had such a deep connection with an animal before. Walking Nano taught me how love and empathy are amazing tools for dealing with OCD, as well as learning to be more okay with dirt and living with the messier parts of life more peacefully.

4 .No

Number four is reserved for culture, which unfortunately I did not experience as much of as I would have liked to, this year. I only went to a few plays, two museums in Israel and a few more in London and Manchester. I made art, but I didn’t have that much time for it. This coming year I’d like to save some time to create, to see exhibitions, plays, etc… it always inspires me and adds zest to my life.

5 .No

And last but not least, number five, is time spent with family and friends. Last year my little sister Gal moved in with her boyfriend. Since then I’ve come to realize that I shouldn’t take for granted the time I spend with the people I love and how hard it is to coordinate meetups between people with very different schedules when they no longer live together. In general, during the  COVID years I started to fold inwards and I stopped initiating social interactions. The anxiety and uncomfortableness are still very much present when I see friends and even sometimes family. This year I hope to expand my comfort zone and try to enjoy things I’m not quite comfortable doing yet.
